Get Ready With Me: A Day In My Life

Hey, everyone. Hopefully, you've all been sticking around even though I'm not blogging as much. I'm kinda going through bloggers block right now as far as dance-related posts are concerned so hopefully those will return again in August.
Also, I've been going through medication withdrawals as I'm changing up what I was taking for my anxiety so most of my days this month have been shitty. All I've really done is sleep because when I'm awake, I have massive panic attacks along with somatic symptoms. It's literally been hell on Earth for me. I am on the road to recovery now because I was finally able to see a psychiatrist yesterday (vs. August 8th) so hopefully I'll be back to my normal self in a week or two.
Anyways, on to today's post.. a Get Ready With Me. I love watching videos on it and I thought I'd do a post on it. Luckily, I pre-wrote all of July's posts last month so you get to hear what a typical day is like for me, not one of the shitty day's I've been having recently. One day, when I get a better camera, and feel better I will make a video for you all. So let's begin!

I usually wake up between 7:00-7:30am, usually to my puppy whining or licking my face. The first thing I do is take my anxiety med, probiotics and 1oz of Kombucha. I’m definitely late on the whole Kombucha phase but I really do  like it, even though it’s pretty bitter. I normally take 1oz first thing in the morning and then 1oz in the afternoon and then 1oz in the evening. I know that raw, unprocessed things are really good for you so I'm trying it out along with being vegetarian.
After I do all that, I take my puppy outside to do her things for about fifteen minutes. While she does that, I'll read my daily devotional for the day. When she’s ready to come in, I make breakfast for us. Well, really for me but we eat together. Today, I decided on a boiled egg and sourdough toast with an avocado. It’s one of my favorite breakfasts ever. While I’m eating, I like to write my morning entry in my Happiness Journal.

This verse is from the Prayers for Mental Health
devotional in the YouVersion Bible app.

(Top) Sourdough bread with an avocado lightly
                                                   dusted with salt and pepper.
(Bottom) An artsy pic of my Happiness Planner.

After that, I usually go to the bathroom to do all my hygienic things. The first two things I do are standard: I brush my teeth (Crest 3D White) and put on my deodorant (Dove Dry Spray). Next, I’ll go on to face washing before makeup. I use Origin’s A Perfect World Cleanser with White Tea to wash my face. I follow up with Boots Botanics Rosewater Toner and Nip + Fab Dragon’s Blood Serum. Lastly, I put on Origins Ginseng moisturizer and the corresponding eye cream.
Once that is done, I move on to putting on my face, as I like to call it. Before I start, I always have to have music on. I am currently loving Samantha Bark's new album. Stay has to be my fave song so far.

I've been a fan of Sam's since I saw the
 Les Miserables 25th Anniversary Concert
on TV my Sophomore year of High School.

First, I start off with ELF Blemish Control Primer for the spots I have after getting my eyebrows waxed last week and ELF Green Mineral Primer to conceal the redness. Once that is on, I’ll put on my foundation. Due to my skin not looking as nice as normal, I go with my Amazonian Clay Foundation in Light Sand. It’s a lot thicker than my normal summer foundation (Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow in "I'm Pure 4 Sure" Ivory) but it does a fantastic job of hiding my skin issues.
Once that’s done I’ll conceal my under eye bags with Benefit Bo-ing Concealer in 01. Next, I’ll move on to blush. I am currently loving Cargo Blush in Catalina. It’s a really pretty and flattering shade. Next up is eyes. When my skin is bad, I tend to do a neutral eye and a bold lip. So today, after priming my eyes with Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer, I’m putting on Limit from the Naked 3 palette, a thin line of black eyeliner on my top lashes , a small cat eye and mascara. I love the Maybelline Felt-tip Liquid Liner Pen and Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. Lastly, I’ll do my lips. Today, like most days, I reach for my NARS velvet matte lip pencil in Curella. Somedays, when I want something a bit more moisturizing I’ll use my Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick in Bad Blood. I find it more hydrating even though it’s technically a matte lipstick.
My hair is usually in a braid when I wake up so all I really do is take the braid out and run my fingers through the curls a bit and if parts are frizzy I’ll run some of my curl creme through it.

After makeup, I’ll put on my outfit for the day, which my blue and white floral dress, my red cardigan and blue wedges. If I have time before therapy, I’ll take Bella outside and let her play.
Not much happens during therapy. I’ve been doing EEG Neurofeedback twice a week for a month now. EEG Neurofeedback is essentially a visual way to mediate. I get hooked up to the EEG machine and play video games. My favorite one is the Magical Forest game where I am a fairy collecting mushrooms and bringing animals to life. It’s really fun. I’m kinda an expert at the game now because I usually collect all the mushrooms I can find before I go saving all the animals. The other thing I like about that game is that somehow the system knows I'm a ballerina and so when I'm doing good, it plays songs like Waltz of the Sugar Plum Fairy or Waltz of the Flowers.

Dress: Fiore
Cardigan: Tilly's
Shoes: Payless

Once therapy is done, I’ll either be going to work, which is within walking distance from therapy,  doing errands or heading home. I didn’t have work today so once I was finished I went to our local pet shop to buy some things for Bella. I got her some food, and more puppy toys. I also got a name tag for her.
When I got home it was lunch time so after washing my hands I made myself lunch. I decided on some leftover bow-tie pesto with sundried tomato pasta. I finish it pretty quickly, mainly because I love it so much. After that, I take Bella back up to my room for nap time. I’m usually pretty tired during this time as well so either I’ll take a nap with her or I’ll quietly watch a movie. Today I decided on a movie about Mother Teresa, one of my all-time favorite people. I love how selfless she was and how many people she helped around the world. We also have the same Myers-Briggs personality type INFJ: Introversion (I) iNtuition (N), Feeling (F) and Judging (J).

I could eat this pasta all day long.

I have this taped up in my room and in my bathroom.

Musical-wise, that's Wicked, Rebecca, Les Miserables
and Into The Woods for me. TV show wise its Private Practice.
Amelia Shepherd and I have many similar personality traits and life
experiences (minus the addiction part). For songs, it's On My Own (Les Mis),
No Good Deed (Wicked) Rebecca (Rebecca),  Astonishing (Little Women),
My Immortal (Rachel Tucker) and Always Starting Over (If/Then).

After taking Bella out, yet again, after her nap, I put on my work-out gear and did a quick warm up before rehearsals. I’m working on a dance project TBA at a later date so I had rehearsals for that as well as I practiced a few monologues I’m working on for some auditions coming up.
I also ended up doing some work for a Depression Management course I'm taking. Alongside this course, I am currently doing a close read of the book, A Mind of Your Own by Dr. Kelly Brogan. It’s about ways to treat depression in women without the need for antidepressants. I highlight important parts and paraphrase them in my notebook. It’s possible that I’ll be doing a blog post about it in the future…

The book I'm reading, plus my notes & my Synergy drink.

By the time, I finished rehearsing and studying it was dinner time for Bella. Once she was done eating, I took her out again and let her play while I ate my dinner. I had made myself a spinach, strawberry, avocado and sliced almonds with poppy seed dressing salad. It’s one of my absolute favorites. I could eat it all day long.

My amazing summer salad.
Recipe coming soon.

After dinner and play time with Bella, my sister Jaimi and I chatted through FT for two hours. We also did an ab and arm workout together, that was really fun and challenging. You can check out here. It’s nice to work out with someone, even if it’s through a computer screen.

Please leave a comment below telling my sis how
freaking gorgeous she is. (YKYLM Jaimi)!

Once I finished my workout, I went to the bathroom to take a shower. I used the Hello Beautiful Shower Gel from Bath & Body Works and the Brilliant Brunette Shampoo/Conditioner set. I also washed off my makeup in the shower with Cetaphil Face and Body cleanser. After that, I put on my Origins face mask with Rose Clay on before moving on to hair. First, I sprayed a bit of the Beauty Protector Protect & Detangler (not pictured) in my hair before combing it out. Lastly, I worked in some Curls Whipped Curl Creme (not pictured) in my hair. Once my hair is 75% dry, I put it either one or two dutch braids.

Here we have my shampoo, shower gel and lotion set.
I just realized that I'm out of the curl creme and detangler
spray which is why they aren't pictured.

By the time my hair is done, my mask is dry and ready to be taken off. I tend to get my face really wet and then massage the mask into my skin to exfoliate it before rinsing it off and patting my face dry.
Next, I put on Boots Botanics Rosewater Toner and my Pixi Skincare Glow Serum. Once that is dry, I put my Boots Botanics Skin Calming night cream with a few added drops of Bio-oil. Finally, I moisturize my body with the Origins Calm Your Senses body soufflé in Lavender and Vanilla before putting on my PJ's, which is usually a tee shirt and loose leggings. I love my soft gray Jacob (from Twilight) tee and my black leggings with lace on the side. Once all that is done I’ll either get a snack before brushing my teeth or I’ll brush them post-shower.

This is what I use on special nights.
Otherwise my nighttime skincare routine
is the same as my morning routine.

By this time, I am pretty sleepy so either my mum or I will take Bella out one last time before we go to bed. Before I put her in her bed for the night, I hold her in my arms and walk around my room while the song Bella’s Lullaby plays. It’s a very therapeutic routine for her and me. By the time that song is over, Bella is asleep. Once she’s in bed, I’ll take some time to reflect on my day in my Happiness Journal before reading a book or watch some TV if I have the time. I am currently reading Glass Sword, which is the second book in the Red Queen series. I absolutely love the book series. As for TV, my weekday shows are The Fosters and Pretty Little Liars, but my ultimately nightly guilty pleasure is Game of Thrones. I’ll usually turn out the lights between 10-10:30pm. Fresh dreams!

If I am a sword - then I am a sword made out of glass.
And I can feel myself beginning to shatter.
~ Mare Barrows; Glass Sword.

My favorite character & quote from Game of Thrones.
The night is dark and full of terrors,
old man, but the fire burns them all away.

This is Bella Rose Swan. My freaking sweet and feisty
3-month-old Maltese/Terrier mix. I love her to death!

I really hope you enjoyed this post. Sorry for the crazy length of it.
